LorriGoldmanMendez Lorri Goldman-Mendez
Dance Director/Instructor

Miss Lorri brings over 30 years of teaching, choreographing and performing to Bodies in Motion Dance Centre. In that time, Lorri has worked throughout NY and NJ with several dance companies and in musical theater. Her choreography has won numerous awards on the competition circuit , as well as being featured in a music video released on MTV Asia. Lorri attended Mason Gross College of Performing Arts, Middlesex County High School of Performing Arts, and has trained and continues to study in leading studios in New York. Miss Lorri is a member of Dance Educators of America and Associated Dance Teachers of NJ and currently serves on the board of directors for A.D.T. of NJ, She acted as Treasurer for seven years and recently elected by her peers to be President of this highly regarded organization. Lorri has also studied with the Royal Academy of Dance in their teachers certification program. R.A.D. is an internationally recognized training school for ballet.

heather Heather Otten
Dance Instructor

Miss Heather knew at a young age that dance was a very important part of her life and wanted to share this love with others.  Heather graduated from Drexel University with a Bachelor's in Dance with a concentration in Education.  Drexel gave Heather many opportunities to choreograph and perform, working with a wide-range of choreographers, including but not limited to Meredith Rainey, Nora Gibson, Clyde Evans, and Olive Prince.  In addition to her dance studies at Drexel, she volunteered with Drexel Dance Touring Ensemble and Youth Performance Exchange, both programs used to introduce dance to Philadelphia Public School students.  Heather also participated in a wheelchair dance program that allows students to work  one-on-one with a child form HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy.  While in Philadelphia, Heather worked at an elementary school where she implemented a movement/dance curriculum in the Physical Education classes.  Heather returned to her home state and has been happy to continue to share her passion with her students!

Miss Amy, raised in New Jersey started dancing at the age of six.  Under the direction of Ballet Mistress Sally Topham, she trained in the Royal Academy of Dance method, in which she accomplished yearly examinations.  Amy joined her first company at the age of eight, where she performed in many different works including the nutcrackers, and multiple shows choreographed by former Rockette, Patricia Tully.  She has danced in a number of music videos including East Village Opera Company , and AC/DC's music video.  Furthering her education at Kean University, Amy earned her degree in psychology while at Kean Dance theatre performance company.  Amy has created and directed multiple dance teams and performance companies, as well as worked for prestigious dance competitions.

Miss Carolyn, an award winning master teacher and choreographer, who celebrates over 25 years of dance education, was trained by the Manhattan Ballet School, as well as with prima ballerinas, Elfrieda Merman and Dorothea Melvin. She holds a BA in Sociology and Musical Theatre from Wagner College, and an MSW in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University. Her clinical practice, and her teaching style specializes in children, helping them to grow in their abilities and self esteem. She is a member of Dance Educators of America and Associated Dance Teachers of NJ, and has trained with the Royal Academy of Dance, participating in their teacher certification program. She continues to train, teach, and choreograph throughout the New York/New Jersey area. She is thrilled to working with Miss Lorri, who has been a wonderful support to her over the years, and shares her love and values of dance.

Miss Christina graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.  At Marymount, under the direction of Katie Langan, she had the pleasure to work and perform with many artists including Robert Battle, David Parsons, Kate Weare, Merce Cunningham among others.  She trained extensively with the pre-professional company New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble from the ages of 9-18.  NJDTE offered her wonderful opportunities such as to dance at the Metropolitan Opera House in Lincoln Center with the Kirov ballet in their revival of Sleeping Beauty.  Under the direction of Nancy Turano, Christina also has worked with Jason McDole, Miki Orihara, Alessandra Prosperi, Elisa Clark among many others. Christina has been a guest teacher at several studios around the metropolitan area and is pleased to be teaching at Bodies in Motion Dance Centre! Christina is also a former member of Roschman Dance Company and current member of Bryn Cohn and Artists.

Doug is a New Jersey based visual artist and professional dancer.  Signed to Clear Talent Agency in New York City at age 19.  Doug is a former member of the Beat Club Crew and continues to dance with many of its members, while he took time off dancing professionally to study and receive his Bachelor's from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers.  Doug has performed at Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Highline Ballroom, the Joyce Theater and more though out the city.  He has trained in Popping, Breaking, House, Locking, and Waacking.  He also holds a Vogue Teaching Certification under Juan Flores.  Bodies In Motion is looking forward to Doug enhancing our Hip Hop program even further and taking our crew to new heights!  


katie border Katherine (Katie) Pettit

Miss Katie is a Director/ Choreographer and Dance Teacher who served as Susan Stroman's SDC observer on BULLETS OVER BROADWAY on Broadway.  Katherine is Associate Artistic Director of NY Theatre Barn, on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine Nov 15'. 

Miss Katie's dance company, Ketherine Pettit Creative- KPC, spotlights social injustices using dance as our universal language, changing minds by opening hearts through movement.  Katie's approach in class is to empower every student to recognize their full potential and connect each movement to the meaning and emotion behind it, enabling her students to communicate through dance.  Katie is a teaching artrist for Astoria Performing Arts Center and teaches at senior centers through the Su Casa Grant in Queens.  She has served as the Director of the Regis Repertory Musical Program for Regis High School and is the Director of Dance at Loyola School in Manhattan.  Miss Katie is very excited to join the BIM family!
